Masters of Queen`s Blade Excellent Offical Figure Visual Book

Ho,ho,ho! Youre favorite blogger Blowfish didnt drown in a sea of christmas cookies but merely has been very,very busy with real life.Ive finally found the time to take a break and take some pictures of a book that has been lying on my desk for quite some time. Check out my review after the Jump!

How do you know that youre beyond good and evil when it comes to a merchandise?The answer is simple: You buy a book that features pictures of the figures you have in your own cabinet XD

Masters of Queens Blade focuses on the figure related merchandise of the franchise with a heavy focus on Megahouse`s line of figures.The book features the whole Megahouse Line Up Until late spring 09 and selected figures by other manufacturers aswell as illustrations and other nifty extras.The book even has something for the perverts out there with its sealed Gravure Picture section that features the girls in all their naked glory

The softcover book is a 120 pages strong with nice strong quality paper and is mostly in full colour with a few exceptions like early design sketches etc.The sealed gravure section gave me a bit of a headache since you have to seperate the pages with a knife or scissors to get a look at the busty beauties.My attempt to seperate the pages was rather unsuccessful and I ended up with a bunch of jagged pages.I sacrificed a few milimeters of the pages and used my hobbyknife and a ruler to get a clean look.

The book itself is seperated into Megahouse figures and their Colour Variants,the Gravure Section,other Queens Blade figures,Queens Gate figures,Illustrations and early design sketches,an interview with Megahouse`s figure sculptors and a tour guide to the world of Queens Blade.

Hobby Japan and MegaHouse are some sneaky bastards and added an exclusive figure coupon at the end of the book.I cant really tell for which figure the coupon is but its probably invalid for quite some time anyway.

The book is a nice way to get an overview over the vast Queens Blade figure merchandise and probably gives a good insight into the production process when youre able to understand japanese.The Illustration section gives an insight into the characters and makes the package complete and an interesting addon for the sophisticated Queens Blade afficiando.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the book at the price point of 1905 yen if youre interested in MH`s vast figure releases but if youre looking for illustrations you better place your bet on one of the other avaiable QB Illustration books.

Soooo….what have I been busy with?Ive had a Job Interview Marathon the last two weeks and Ive finally been successful last week and got myself a new job.Its alot closer to my place and pays better than my last job and Im kinda happy now that I was fired from my last job ^^

Im still busy getting used to the new work enviroment and I fear that blogging has to take a backseat at the moment until the holidays come.Ill try to write up some posts in my free time but dont expect too much from me until christmas ^^;;;

About a month ago Ive also got a mysterious shipment from england…What could it be?

Yes,I am officially now one of the cool guys and ordered myself a free pack of 50 Moo Business Cards.They come with a moo branding that features a discount code which may bother some but I am not really troubled by it.I wont use the cards for any serious business anyway and theyre free after all!

The 100 € Paperweight – Choun Shiryu

I havent regretted a figure purchase before until the postman dropped off the box that contained Choun Shiryu.As soon as the first reviews of her popped up around the net everybody ran to their retailer and canceled their Preorders.Just one unlucky dude missed those pictures and discovered them after he was charged for the figure: ME

Back when the prototype of this figure was revealed pretty much everybody was astonished by the fact that this is a tasteful Ikki Tousen Figure and how good she looked for a figure from a third rate manufacturer.She didnt really look like the illustration by Yuji Shiozaki shes based on but she was darn beautiful.Her Kimono and the floral patterns on it looked breathtaking and I couldnt really resist and preordered her besides her steep price of 14490Yen.

The fact that the sculptor Eiji Nakayama also did GSC`s 1/5 Iroha and the 100€ pricetag were a guarantee for me that Beat will deliver good quality besides their reputation.Sadly I was as wrong as I could be and got a figure thats so bad that I seriously considered re-boxing her after I unboxed her

I actually dont know where to start since there are so many bad things about her so lets start about the few good things I can say about her.Choun has a nice size of about 29cm and is made of nice heavy PVC thats supported by two metal rods in her legs.This is sadly ALL that speaks for this figure which is a real shame.If i had to compare the quality of this figure with something id say that the craftmanship is compareable to that of a Gashapon.A big 100 € Gashapon >.<

Probably the worst part of her is her hair wich looks absolutely horrible and looks like they just threw strands of hair onto her head.A well composed hairdo shouldnt be composed out of various strands that dont add up as a whole and stick out like a sore thumb.After closer inspection of the hair I even noticed that some parts of the it werent properly painted / the paint rubbed of and showcased white parts inside that silver mess thats supposed to be her hair.I actually highly doubt that they put any effort into her hair at all.This is also reflected in the fact that they didnt properly glue the hair & head together and that theres a gap right behind her right ear.From the back of her head to the front and the very next disaster that is her face.It does look kind of alright when looked from the right angle but as soon as the viewing angle shifts a bit her face looks really distorted.Most figures have a a chocolate side from which they look the best but atleast they dont look fugly when the angle changes a bit….

Her Kimono is supposed to be the highlight of this figure but the figure cant deliver here either.Beat did a very poor job with applying the decals to the kimono and theyre very obvious from miles away.The Kimono is made out of a few plastic pieces and they tried to hide the seamlines in the various folds of the kimono.While this works most of the time there are some spots where its dead obvious.Throw some flaws like dents and paint blotches in the mix and you have her Kimono.

Choun is a traditional girl and goes of course nopan under her kimono like any good japanese girl.While I endorse the fact that shes a proper Yamato Nadeshiko ,I cant endorse the fact that her crotch is the usual barbie genitalia deal and thrown at your face when your looking at her sideways.I would have prefered an option where you dont have to directly look at her non-existent genitalia.

I think you already noticed but I absolutely hate how this figure turned out and its really hard to stomach that Ive spent a 100€ on her plus 19% customs.I dont even take the shiping into account since that would make the little Blowfish cry.

I seriously have no Idea what I am supposed with this figure since I dont really feel like showcasing her and she makes a rather unhandy paperweight.Theres the Option to sell her to somebody else and Ive looked around European Shops and they sell her for around 150-170€.This means that I could theoretically sell her cheaper than that and still get the money spent on her back.But lets be honest who would want to buy her after seeing these pictures?

I didnt feel like going all out with my pictures this time and they are therefore rather crappy.The figure simply demotivated me that much

God how i hate her hair

As a matter of fact Beat announced 2 Variations of this figure for later release.One is a Colour Variation and the other is the colour variation with closed eyes and a different front hair piece.I highly doubt that these will be of better quality than this though.

I havent seen any Reviews of her in the blogosphere yet and it seems im the only unlucky dude that didnt manage to cancel her.If you have a review and feel like sharing your pain comment and ill add ya

So whats the lesson learned? Never every trust third rate manufacturers and their protos

Infernal Temptress Airi

I can already hear all my readers sighing for yet another Queens Blade figure review but bare with me.Theres just one more QB figure waiting to be reviewed and then well get back to the regular bishoujo figures.This time well take a look at one of the swamp witch`s minions: the Infernal Temptress Airi.Shes waiting to suck out your life energy right after the jump!

Airi is the third re-release of older Queens Blade figures under the Special Edition labels and comes with an additional halberd and a broom to clean out all those filthy Otaku rooms.Tommy of the Inferno Project already pointed out that those are of rather gimmicky nature since they dont stand a chance in craftmanship and finish against her awesome scythe.I could care less about that though since ive never been interested in those anyway.I know that there are quite a few fans of battle meidos out there and I guess scythe wielding ghost maids that are primarly used for assasinations by sucking out its targets life force definately qualify for that label.

I sadly cant provide much background information about Airi since the anime didnt give much information about her and I still havent found a good site for Queens Blade translations.All I know is that she was given human form by her mistress the swamp witch who summoned her from the Underworld and that shes obedient to all her requests.This basically explains why there are wisps flying around her and why shes able to fly ^^

Oh and as an most important fact she likes to dance in her free time

I havent catched up to the newest Queens Blade Episode but she seems to have soft side too.Wont spoil the fun for you tough ^_^

Lets talk a bit about the figure itself now.One of the biggest enemies of this figure is its age.The original sculpt is from 2007 and thats ages in the figure business.Megahouse is probably the specialist when it comes to cast-off figures and nowadays they deliver really great quality.Cast-off figures often suffer under bulky clothes and Airi is no exception in that department.It isnt horribly done in any way but its simply state of the art `07 which looks kinda weird in `09.Take a look at Kibayashi Norios newest work,Alleyne, and youll notice how much the sculptor and MH have evolved over the past 2 years.

The paintjob looks pretty nice and as far as I know they improved several parts with their choice of paints and colours.The Special Edition of Echidna,Ill review later this week, for example has now a metallic paintjob on her shield instead of the flat colours used in her original release.

Asking them to rework the cast-offable clothes would of course be too much to ask.While were talking about cast-off ill insert my regular rant that MH didnt provide a cast-off instruction.Airi is rather tricky since youll need some gentle force to make her blouse slip over her chest and left arm.I feared that the paint may rub off onto her skin but luckily this wasnt the case.

Some final words about her scythe: I dont know if its just my Airi but her scythe loves to fall out of her handwhen shes beeing moved/the detolf is opened.Its nothing major but kinda annoying when you have to replace it every time.

Airi is definately a nice addition to my QB cast and even though shes from 2007 and wears bulky maid clothes shes worth the cash.Just look out that she isnt sucking out your life force

Ultra Vibration Valkyrie Mirim (NSFW)

I have no Idea what an Ultra Vibration Valkyrie is supposed to do on the battlefield but who cares when youre having a chainsaw-sword wielding babe infront of you?Heres my quick review of Megahouse`s second entry of QB`s Rebellion line!

When I saw the promo shots of Mirim a few months ago I immediately knew that I had to buy her.I didnt find her pose particulary good and her design is actually a bit too cute for my taste but the sword( Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2 anyone?) that shes wielding is just too badass to pass her.

Mirim is a member of the Rebel Brigade under the command of princess Ashlotte .To our suprise the Brigade`s members are all scantily clad females and make up the third faction in the QB Universe.Ashlotte and Mirim were the first two girls of the Brigade to get a regular figure treatment and the limited edition of the third Rebellion Battlebook wich features 2 girls ,namelyYui and Vante, has a Yuit Figure done by MegaHouse as a Bonus.Im pretty sure that were gonna see more members of the Brigade pop up sooner than later.

Megahouse delivers the usual solid quality we are used to,with some extra effort put into her armors finish and the wings on her legs & head.My biggest beef with her design is that her crossed legs look like she has to take a pee urgently. Those legs make the cast-off process a major pain in the butt since the leotard has to slide through the itsy-bitsy tiny space between her legs.It goes without saying that MH didnt provide a cast-off instruction and youll have to go the usual trial and error route until Mirim is in her birthday suit.

One of the straps that connects with her thong is particulary hard to put in position and among all those Reviews Ive read so far the only one who managed to connect it correctly is Foobarbaz.Im amazed that noone mentioned it so far since its a quite annoying flaw in my opinion.Its on her back and youll usually wont notice but it still annoys me.If anyone has a hint on how to connect it to the matching part gimme a call.

The figure comes with a vast variety of parts and can be combined in a few variations.Her Visor can be worn on her head,face or completley removed for example.Another cool feature is that youre able to rotate her head and left arm wich allows a limited poseability.

The Overall package is great and shes among my favorite Queens Blade figures so far despite her flaws.

1/7 Sonsaku Hakufu Haregi Ver. (NSFW)

Heres another NSFW Review by yours truly!I guess ill have to apologize to lovelyduckie and optic in advance since they wont be able to check this out during work.Heres some advice: stop slacking at work!

Well take a look at Griffons alternative colour entry of Ikki Tousens Boob wonder Sonsaku Hakufu right after the Jump!

This figure is the alternative colour version of a Figure Griffon released in February and the original figure is loosely based on the Cover Artwork of Vol. 12 of the Manga:

I cant really tell why I settled for the alternative colour but my guess would be that I didnt have the moolah for her original release.I was pondering at first if I should give Griffon a try since Ive seen some truly crappy figures by them and to my distress most of those crappy figures were based on the Ikki Tousen Franchise.James Review of Griffons LolitaYuki Nagato and my brothers Ten-I by Griffon gave me the courage to try Griffon out.

What can I say?I am not disappointed at all!They delivered a figure with nice patterns printed on her outfit (I guess thats a Haregi?) and the build quality is pretty solid even though the pose is somwhat boring/undynamic.The face sculpt isnt close to the artwork at all but it captures the spirit of the airheaded Toshi pretty well.I eyed this figure for a totally different reason though: all those little details about her outfit was what got me ineterested in her and Im glad they delivered to my expectations.Sure,this isnt Top 3 material but a remarkable effort from Griffons side though.

Let your eyes wander along her outfit and youll notice small beads,prints,rings and all kinda fancy stuff.Her fan comes with some extra fluff in form of some fluffy pelt (?) thats attached to its end.The Area where the pelt and the fan meet doesnt look that good in my copy but that may vary from copy to copy.

Whats a Ikki Tousen Figure without a cast-off option?You can free poor Hakufus boobs into their natural habitat via a simple cast-off mechanism.People that were hoping for a cast-offable pantsu will be disappointed since little miss good for nothing seems to think that its a good way to go nopan.Is that the traditional way to go in this outfit?I remember an episode of Minami-ke where they said that its an obligation to go nopan in your Kimono/Yutaka aswell.

Enough talk about this figure and some talk about this shoot:

I tried to get a vibrant,shiny background for this shoot and decided to go with daylight only.I definately succeeded with the background but got some rather harsh shadows in exchange.Its a bummer that you cant direct the sunlight like your lamps

In the end I couldnt decide if these pictures turned out good or not… ^^;;;

I cant remember her current magatama colour but I think they got it wrong…

1/8 Steel Princess Yumiru

A few of my Readers asked me to do an Outdoor Shooting with one of my cast-off figures and I am more than happy to fulfill that request with todays review!Lets check out Queen Bllade`s Steel Princess Yumiru after the Jump!

Some of my Readers might say now: But Blowfish, isnt that a Loli that got into your collection?

Of course not! Shes a Dwarve! A totally different thing!

We all know that dwarves work in mines,grow beards and drink beer until dawn.Dwarves are one of the manliest things on earth and therefore she cant be a loli.Manly man have real woman as wife/daughter.Dwarves just have the nasty habit to stay small and could be mistaken by the eyes of ignorant fools.

Still not convinced? Shes wielding a big weapon.Females with big weapons are awesome and Lolis arent at all.

And last but not least: I ordered her and since Blowfish is known for not beeing into lolis she cant be loli!

As you can see I have valid points that are as robust as adamantium and show that I am right and you are wrong.

Yumiru is one of the participating warriors in Queens Blade and hailing from some dwarven kingdom that is blacksmithing the best weapons to kick ass of other busty females in ecchi situations.Thats all I know about her background and I dont think that theres more to be known.

This particular Yumiru is part of the recent re-releases MegaHouse is doing under their Special Edition labelling.Its basically the same figure as the regular release with a bonus like a second weapon.Yumiru comes with a second weapon thats supposed to be a hammer if im not mistaken.I didnt include the Hammer in this review due to my lazyness though.

Yumiru is typical MegaHouse quality and doesnt stray from the norm.Upon closer inspection youll notice seamlines in her drills and arms but as long as shes on your shelf/in your cabinet you wont notice anything.The Paintjob does the job but lacks the detail of never MH releases.Her Axe is made of ABS and looks and feels kinda cheap.Her right wrist has a joint that allows it to be rotated and thats the reason why the Axe feels cheap.They had to make it Hollow so that the joint isnt under too much stress.

Whats a QB review done by me without my usual nag about the cast-off mechanism.As usual the figure comes without a cast-off manual and unlike with Shizuka I had once again a hard time to cast her off.Exposing her boobs was as easy as munching some delicious cake but her Pantsu gave me a nightmare.Between one of her Boots and her Leg was some plastic wrapper so I knew that the leg will part there.I came to the conclusion that the same can be done with the other leg and I tried several minutes to remove the boot.It didnt come off and in the end I tried it with brute force….Luckily I didnt tear her apart in the process…In the End I head the bright Idea to look at the Pantsu itself and TADA! Provlem solved ^^;;;;;;;;;

On another note: I think that the Cast-off of her boobs is kinda lame.It doesnt make much sense to me when only the boobs are exposed and the rest of her outfit remains the same.

BTW: This Review answers Optics question if all QB Girls wear thongs <(^_^)b

I went to the ruins of an old farm from 1300 to take these pictures.When I think of dwarves I think of Stones and Moss and all that kinda fantasy crap.There isnt much left of that farm but it was enough for the shot.I accidently forgot Yumirus Pantsu at home since Yoko was still wearing her on her head for unknown reasons (I think I was so pissed at the panties that I didnt bother to put them back after the long fight and decided that they make a good accessory for Yoko).Thats the reason why I took some indoor pictures aswell so that youll be able to enjoy her panties in all her glory.

Ive recently found something very cool and I think this is the right stuff to cool you guys down.This is probably pretty old stuff but I stumbled across Plamoo`s Stop Motion Animation using Actionfigures like Figmas,Busou Shinkis and even Gunplas.Its truly amazing what this fella is pulling off.He achieves amazing fluidity that made my jaw drop.I wonder how many pictures he has to take for one second of motion.

Sexy Succubus Morrigan

Blowfishs back! You may wonder where Ive been but I can assure you that I wasnt trapped in a timeloop for 8 Episodes.I merely enjoyed my first week of my 2 week vacation.Lets start my second week with a bang!I proudly present you my biggest and so far most expensive PVC figure: good ol` Morrigan of Darkstalkers fame! Hit the Jump and lose some hitpoints!

Ive gotta admit that my Morrigan experiences so far have been limited to the ” Capcom vs.” series and its infinitely recycled Morrigan sprite.Im glad that she finally got a makeover for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I cant wait for the Euro release.Anyways…Morrigan is a Succubus and shes dressed as any Succubus should: sexy as hell (and probably uncomfortable as hell aswell).The Artwork shes based on is one of the Artworks Nishimura did for either Marvel vs.Capcom 2 or Capcom vs. SNK 2.Its not like you guys care anyways…:D

Her Design isnt really what todays moe-moe market is looking for and I see alot people beeing turned down by her rather muscular appearance and prominent hips.Lets face it doing a succubus`job requires strong,muscular hips(and big boobs) ^^

I on the other hand totally love her design from the slightly tilted twist,up to her hands playing with her hair.The conversion from 2D to 3D was flawless as expected of Max Factory and a 12800 Yen figure.While the figure is spot on and huge for a 1/6 figure (35cm!!!) theres a downside to the whole package: the base.Max Factory was penny-pinching when they created the base and it isnt strong enough to withstand the poor girls weight.It isnt anything serious at the moment( just a lil shifting back and forth) but who knows how the whole thing looks in half a year.I hope that she wont lean due to Max Factory stingyness.

The shoot for this figure proved rather difficult this time due to her height.Its nearly impossible to get good lighting with my current equipment and that reminds me again that I should save up some money for better gear.I wonder when that days will come XD

I tried to some pictures with heavy shadows this time to underline her seductive pose and they are eve harder to pull off than imagined.Out of the whole bunch I shot only a few turned out useable.I really like the effect I got with it but youll be the judge.

Queen`s Blade Shizuka

Its time for another Queens Blade review! This time well take a closer look at Alpha X Omegas Rendition of the busty Kunoichi Shizuka.It goes without saying that this review is NSFW!

Alpha X Omega is a collaberation between Alter and Megahouse but I cant tell how much Alter has been involved in the making of the figure.She looks like any of the other figures of the Megahouse Queens Blade line to me,wich isnt a bad thing at all.I was pretty lucky to catch this figure on HLJ a few weeks ago .I was checking their site for new Queens Blade preorders and noticed an unfamiliar figure among their in stock items.As soon as I realized that it was Shizuka I ordered her without further thinking.As far as I know shes been out of print for quite some time and I dont know why HLJ suddenly had some further quantities of her.There are many sexy babes in the Queens Blade Universe but shes among my favorites.Theres something smoking hot about this scantily clad ninja ^^

Im in the lucky position to provide some background information on the figure this time:

The genius ninja leader of the Koumaningun (”Superior Demon Ninja Army”), the most feared ninja clan on Hinomoto [ed. the Queen's Blade universe equivalent of Japan]. She was trained in the highest ranks of a ruthless combat style that gives no regard to the life of oneself or ones’ enemy, but at heart she’s more pragmatic than evil.

As an interesting fact Shizukas one of the few Characters that hasnt been featured in one of the QB Battle Books and just was a support cast in the Tomoe centered QB (Light?) Novel Queen’s Blade Beautiful Warrior Side Stories: Warrior Priestess Picture Scroll.She made the jump to the TV Screen in the QB Anime this year though and I bet its only a matter of time until shell get her own Battle Book. Lets get to the figure itself: Alpha X Omega follows Megahouses`s tradition to not add a cast-off guide but as a most wonderful fact I was able to cast-off Shizuka in a matter of seconds wich is astonishing since it usually takes me quite some time to figure the mechanism out.Another feature that differs Shizuka from the other girls is the fact that you can rotate her arm+ hand into an position you like.It looks pretty silly in most positions but its still a nice addon. Quality-wise its the same good quality as the other Megahouse Excellent Model Core figures.The paintjob is done nicely with some minor flaws in her “pantsu” area and the sculpt itself has a nice flow that accentuates her female curves pretty nice.They did a good job with hiding the cast-off mechanism itself: the big ribbon and the sheath distract from the points where the parts connect. What can I say? Pretty sweet figure for an ecchi connoisseur

Kyouka-sama Nendoroid

This is my first Nendoroid Review and I had a hard time to figure out how to review a Nendoroid.In the end I came to the conclusion that the best way would be to show the nendoroid in action.Ready for an angry housewive and tentacle grape?Here we go!

My original Plan was to let Gekka steal Makinas Pantsu but I failed at removing them.Could someone tell me how to remove Figma Pantsus?

Okay,okay I admit that this was kinda silly but my creativity is taking a holiday in a sunny spot while Im stuck in rainy Germany.What can I say about Kyouka?I absolutely love her angry face and I recently noticed that all the Girls that have the angry face option in my collection are wearing it.Is this some kinda angry girl fetish that I developed as an anti-moe weapon? XD

There isnt really much to say about Kyouka since shes of solid Nendoroid quality and well yeah is there more to say about Nendoroids?I guess her stand is worth mentioning since it isnt the usual nendoroid stand but one where shes resting on top.Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that shes coming with her daughter Gekka,who has two poseable tentacles (RAWR).

I do only own 2 Nendoroids so fart and Im kinda hestitant to buy more Nendoroids since they are kinda pricey in my opinion.Some of them are only a few bucks below the scaled figure pricetag and I do prefer those most of the time.Saber and Kyouka-sama both were figures that were on Sale and the only other figures id love to own are Itoshiki-sensei and Sakura.I hope Archonia will have them long enough in stock since most other shops are already sold out loooong ago and my budget is already tight.

Did I mention that Kyouran Kazoku Nikki is a fun series with a great main heroine? I rarely like this character archetype but I love Kyouka-sama ^^

Clubbing with Baek Changpo

Whew! Finally got another figure review done!This time its one of my favorite figures out there: Baek Changpo.How does Max Factories rendition of the Senko no Ronde Character fare and what the hell is she holding?

Baek Changpo was originally released in April 08 and I instantly fell in Love with her when I saw her at Superrats blog.I totally adore this figure but never got around to order her.I had her in my shopping cart quite a few times but dropped her due to various circumstances.The fact that shes still widely avaiable was one of the factors that came into play.Why “waste” money on a figure you can buy later on when there are much sought after figure avaiable only NOW?

It actually paid off to not order her until a few weeks ago since she ended up in HLJs Sale and I grabbed her in the blink of an eye.They had about 30 pieces of her on sale and the sad thing is that at the end of the sale there were still 12 of her avaiable.Its sad that noone wants to give this adoreable figure a home.My only guess is that the game shes hailing from isnt popular enough?In case you dont know Senko no Ronde heres some reference material:

What drew my attentionto Baek was her clean look-through dress aswell as the genki pose that includes a little teasing.She features Max Factories P.O.L.O. system wich is just another fancy way of saying that shes cast-offable and many guys out there might be disappointed that you wont see boobs.I admit that this cast-off is a bit pointless but oh well there are worse things in the world.

Some reviewers had some beef with her face and butt but I like both as they are but this is a very biased review since I like her so much.Without further ado Ill jump directly to the pictures:
